Our Vision
Our vision as a Church of England primary school, deeply rooted in a strong Christian tradition, is to develop happy, young people with enquiring minds, a lifelong love of learning, respect for themselves, others and the environment so that they will have the skills, resilience and adaptability to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Learning is at the centre of all we do; we strive to provide an engagng education which appeals to the many interests of the children. We work hard and strive for excellence in our school; our aim is that everyone in our school reaches the highest standards of achievement possible whilst becoming confident and independent.
The aim of Barrington School is to provide a happy, safe and stimulating atmosphere where:
- Christian values are promoted
- Respect for others and personal responsibility are expected
- Children enjoy learning and are confident and willing to try
- High academic standards are encouraged and the needs of every child are met
- Teachers, parents and carers work together as partners in their children‟s education

Our Vision
Our vision as a Church of England primary school, deeply rooted in a strong Christian tradition, is to develop happy, young people with enquiring minds, a lifelong love of learning, respect for themselves, others and the environment so that they will have the skills, resilience and adaptability to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
The Bible verse that sets our vision statement in context comes from the words of Jesus: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10. It is this flourishing in the love and grace of God that will enable our children to be wise, hopeful, live well together with dignity and respect in God's world.
Our vision for education is deeply Christian, with Jesus' promise of 'life in all its fullness' at its heart. It is grounded in and based on the “Church of England’s Vision for Education: Deeply Christian, Serving the Common Good (2016)”.
Educating for wisdom, knowledge and skills:
enabling discipline, confidence and delight in seeking wisdom and knowledge, and developing talents in all areas of life.
Our children gain wisdom from:
• A highly engaging thematic curriculum, designed to excite and inspire our children to find out more
• Our Christian Values that give our children a deep understanding of morality and how Jesus wants us to live our life.
Educating for hope and aspiration:
enabling healing, repair and renewal, coping wisely when things go wrong, opening horizons and guiding people into ways of fulfilling them.
• Our Christian Ethos points us towards Jesus as the Light and Hope of the World and our Christian Values help to reinforce this sense of hope and aspiration for the future.
• Children at Barrington are taught that hard work is key to success. We celebrate hard work, success and we help every child to achieve their potential.
• Our nurturing ethos and work on having an open mindset encourages our children to cope with set-backs, see mistakes as learning opportunities and helps them to develop their physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
• Our inspiration events programme includes projects like careers inspiration week that will help the children to see the relevance of what they are learning to the adult world and widen their awareness of the vast range of future occupations open to them.
Educating for community and living well together:
a core focus on relationships, participation in communities and the qualities of character that enable people to flourish together.
•Jesus teaches us to love God and to love our neighbours as ourselves.
• Barrington is an outward looking school, we invite the community to school events and involve members from the community to help us with educational projects with the children.
• We collaborate with other primary schools, secondary schools and Cambridge University and feel that these links greatly enrich our school.
• We value our strong links with the local church and their support in our acts of worship.
• Internally, our school encourages participation, collaboration and a strong sense of community. For example, we have Junior Travel Ambassadors, a School Parliament comprising several “ministries”. This helps our children build the skills necessary to work together with a common purpose.
• We see ourselves as serving our local community. We work very closely with local nursery and playgroup providers and our breakfast and after school provision aims to provide “wrap around” care for our young people and to support local families.
• We encourage our children and families to carry our vision and values outward into their local community and onward into their future lives.
• We work hard to develop links with local community groups and involve them in the life of the school.
Educating for dignity and respect:
the basic principle of respect for the value and preciousness of each person, treating each person as a unique individual of inherent worth.
• As Jesus’s disciples, we love one another as he has loved us.
•A t Barrington school, we respect others and ourselves.
• We recognise that 21st Century Britain is enormously diverse. Our children are encouraged and taught to celebrate this richness.
• Modern technologies present enormous challenges to young people today and we aim to help children navigate safely in this area in a dignified and respectful way.
• All members of the school understand that everyone within our school community should be respected equally and treated with dignity.
The Friends of Barrington School (FOBS) play a very important role in the life of the School, as indeed do all of our parents, as partners in the education process. We also have very strong links with our local church and Rev. Felicity visits weekly to lead collective worship.
